On March 5, the League of Oklahoma will hold its first Advocacy day in over a decade. We will begin with training about communicating with legislators and discussion of our positions and talking points for Medicaid Expansion and our other advocacy priorities.
During our Advocacy Agenda meeting, we made Medicaid Expansion our top priority. It is important to address the problem of having one of the highest uninsured rates in the country and the loss of rural hospitals due to the financial strain. The urgency of the issue to the people of the state was evident during the last election, and some efforts toward using an initiative petition to accomplish medicaid expansion have made legislators more open to the idea. Now is a good time for members to get in touch with legislators and let them know we need to accept the federal funds needed for medicaid expansion.
